Thailand STEM Festival 2016

Founded in 1972, the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) is a Thai government agency that is responsible for the development of national science and mathematics curricula as well as sponsorship and promotion of science education. In order to produce a well-equipped workforce in the IT sector for the 21st century, IPST has initiated a “Thailand Stem Festival” to promote STEM Education, a new educational approach that integrates knowledge from four fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The festival, regarded as a big event of IPST, is held annually in many regions nationwide to encourage integrated learning activities, elevate student creativity and application of knowledge in professional life as well as to create a collaborative network in promoting STEM education in Thailand.

We have created a key visual for Thailand STEM Festival in 2016, a themed “Hot STEM Hit Robot” that appeals to the festival’s primary audience, young students. The goal of the key visual is to inspire and attract young students by using the robots, an interdisciplinary knowledge that defines an ideal and goal of achievement in science and technology to facilitate human, to represent the application of STEM knowledge in our daily lives. We designed a series of robots that look approachable, appealing and friendly. The design project also involves an identity, promotional publications and materials:  tote bag and badge. The identity is fun and distinctive, where each letter represents each academic discipline and helps get an essence for the festival across.
