Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) is Thailand’s leading state-owned power utility under the Ministry of Energy, responsible for electric power generation, acquisition and transmission for the whole country as well as bulk electric energy sales. To welcome the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, EGAT asked us to design a calendar entitled “Journey through AEC” as their corporate gift.

As we looked to the goal of the ASEAN Community vision, “One Vision, One Identity, One Community”, we chose to depict the subject in a slightly unconventional way. Our idea was to allow the spirit of this community to take center stage and enhance the opportunity arisen from this unity to shine. We created 12 illustrations to celebrate the strength of the regional integration in different aspects–visualizing the theme of each ranging from art, culture, economy, and geography, such as prosperity of natural resources, exquisite cuisines, world-renowned tourist destinations or joyful cultural festivals and ceremonies. Each illustration derived from each iconic attribute of AEC member countries to form a big picture. We employed diverse illustration techniques from collage, paper sculpture to vector illustration. Inspired by the theme journey, we designed a special icon for each page to mark as a passport stamp, while the cover resembles a well-traveled leather suitcase covered with travel stickers and luggage tags. The calendar is a unique visual narrative and pleasant journey to AEC.
